Are you in need of a quick, unique crochet pattern to take to markets? If your answer is yes, this crochet starfish pattern is for you!
This pattern is no-sew and works up very quickly. While it is quick and easy to make, it is recommended you have a basic understanding of amigurumi patterns.
This crochet starfish pattern is rated as an advanced beginner pattern and takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. The arms are crocheted first, then the body is crocheted. The arms are then crocheted into the body. Important to note – leave a longer tail on one of the arms as one arm is crocheted into the body differently than the others and the tail is needed to sew any holes.

- In this pattern, I assume the maker has basic knowledge of reading amigurumi patterns.
- Be sure to leave a long enough tail on one of the arms. Holes may occur in the last arm due to the last arm being crocheted onto the body. Make sure you leave this arm for last.
- Lightly stuff the body to make your crochet buddy squishy and huggable, but it is yours so stuff it as much or as little as you wish.
- Leave all arms unstuffed except for last arm
Arms: (make 5)
- R1: 4sc in MR (4)
- R2: 4sc (4)
- R3: (sc, inc)x2 (6)
- R4: 6sc (6)
- R5: (2sc, inc)x2 (8)
- R6: 8sc (8)

* Fasten off leaving a short tail for the 1st 4 arms. Make the last arm tail longer (will need a longer tail to sew any holes after crocheting last arm in. Only stuff 5th arm, lightly.
* Arms will be crocheted into the body.
Body:
- R1: 5sc in MR (5)
- R2: 5inc (10)
- R3: (sc, inc)x5 (15)
- R4: (2sc, inc)x5 (20)
- R5: (3sc, inc)x5 (25)

* Arms are attached in round 6. Place the arm with the opening up and flat against the front of the body. Insert hook through arm and then through body and pull loop through both stitches. See photo below
- R6: (4sc w/ arm, sc in body only)x5 (25)
* Make sure to do arm w/ the long tail last!
* Leave all arms unstuffed, except for the last arm.

- R7: (4sc in top 4 stitches of arm and through next stitch on body, sc in body only)x4, sc only in the top 4 stitches of the last arm, skip 4 stitches on the body, sc (25)

* Leave all arms unstuffed, except for the last arm.
* Use the tail from the 5th arm to sew any holes closed. I like to tie the other tails together for extra security.
* Place 12mm safety eyes between rounds 4-5 with 2 full stitches visible in round 4. They should be level with the top of the side arms.
* Embroider mouth (optional). Insert worsted weight yarn from back to front 2 stitches below left eye, return yarn through stitch on right side 2 stitches below right eye (don’t pull tight yet), insert through center of MR, pull over strand and insert back into MR, pull gently to tighten, tie ends.
- R8: (3sc, dec)x5 (20)
- R9: (2sc, dec)x5 (15)
* Begin stuffing. Starfish will end lightly stuffed.
- R10: (sc, dec)x5 (10)
- R11: 5dec (5)
* Fasten off and weave end through FLO of round 11. Hide end in the body.
